I really like my Freedom Shield on my 2019 Road King. I’ve probably ridden at least 4000 miles behind it now and it’s just right. On the stock shield, my line of sight was right at the top of the shield, exactly the wrong place. I’m 6’ 2” tall. I ordered an 18” Freedom Shield and I look comfortably over it, and the upturned lip at the top does a great job of reducing turbulence on my helmet. Quality is top-notch, too, with the smooth edges and the holes lined up perfectly with the stock hardware. You and your team should be proud of your product.
I’ve had my Road King 22″ Light Smoke Freedom Shield for about 2 months now. It has taken a trip to Colorado and back and numerous long jaunts along the highways near my home in Kansas. Living in Kansas means BIG wind! I didn’t really think this shield would make much of a difference, but the effect is amazing. Prior to this shield I had a Harley 20 ” shield. I either experienced incredible updraft that beat me half to death with my beard, or an obnoxious head buffeting that would cause me to go cross-eyed depending on wind velocity and direction. Since I put the freedom shield on, my rides are so much more enjoyable! I still get plenty of ‘wind therapy’ but my beard just kind of floats a bit instead of snapping my face. I don’t have any buffeting of my helmet. No more headaches on those 30 mph wind days. Honestly if I didn’t live in Kansas, I probably wouldn’t have even tried one of your shields; but here on the plains if you aren’t riding on big wind days, you aren’t riding! Thanks for working with me, taking my first shield back, and suggesting this one. Oh, I REALLY like the light smoke, almost clear but with dark polished edges and just enough tint to make it visible, yet entirely see through. It is short enough that my line of vision is over the top of the shield, which I love!
Love the shield… I really notice a difference at higher speeds, less turbulence and my shades aren’t shaking all over the place. Glad I went with a 16″ too! Not obtrusive at all, I was running a 14″ before. I’ll probably order up a 20″ in the future for the spring and fall…. also, the nice thickness of it is AWESOME. Doesn’t shake at stop signs or while I’m riding…. Super happy with the purchase man, you guys and gals make a quality product and I will recommend to anyone who asks.
First off John and Lisa with Freedom Shields are the best to deal with. When I first contacted Freedom Shields about the best option for my bike John suggested the 16″ version and boy was he spot on. I also mentioned to him that I had a trip planned for the end of the month and he told me he would do his best to get it to me on time, not only did they do that, but it actually arrived a week earlier than what he projected. Once installed it outperformed the stock Harley windshield hands down, absolutely no wind buffeting and not a bit of distortion. This is the third windshield I have purchased from them, and they have never let me down. Hats off for job well done.
First off, this is not my first Freedom Shield rodeo. This will be my third new Freedom and 5th overall Freedom. My first one was for my 2012 Screamin Eagle Street Glide, and it made a world of difference in wind management on that bike. If but for the wind alone I would have been happy but nope, this thing is clear as a bell when it comes to optics and the view out. I’m very happy that John and all the fine folks at Freedom have adopted other brands because I recently took ownership of a 2018 Indian Chieftain Limited. The factory “flip” windshield was OK but had some distortion and it was quite a bit more than the 12″, lightly tinted Freedom I purchased. With that size, I can run the windshield all the way in the down position and have NO wind issues whatsoever. I’m looking just over the top of it in that position. Fully up and I’m really looking through but talk about a clear view along with great wind (and rain) protection. Those polished edges finish out what is a great windshield. I actually did put another brand on my 2015 Screamin Eagle Road Glide Ultra and while it managed the wind, it didn’t hold a candle to the optics and fit/finish of my Freedom, so Freedom is what I put back on it. I’m very satisfied with the product and will not look anywhere else for windshields for this or any future bike. I’ve got two friends that have moved to Freedom, too, based on what they see sitting behind mine. It’s a great product. Thanks John.
I had the OEM recurve windshield on my bike, but I found if I raised the windshield to its highest position there was a lot of wind coming from the bottom of the windshield. I was undecided on the height of a shield from Freedom and mentioned it in an email. To my surprise John, the owner of Freedom Shields, called me. We had a nice conversation and John explained to me that the OEM is measured differently. We decided on the 14”. It measures one and three quarters of an inch taller than OEM. This allows me to raise my new windshield to the same position as before without the wind coming from underneath. The extra height has made it a more comfortable ride. I love the look of it on my bike and had many compliments. I haven’t had any issues looking through the shield if I have it raised up and there’s no distortion of my vision. John is a pleasure to deal with and customer satisfaction and communication is first class. I would definitely buy again.
I bought a windshield from you a couple of years ago. Easy install on my Indian Roadmaster, took it for a ride and once I decided I wanted it, I took the plastic cover off and it hasn’t left my bike since. I wanted to give it a good test before writing a review. The windshield has been outstanding. I’ve road through high winds and torrential rains since the install. The worst one was in a trip across Missouri. It felt like someone was throwing 5 gallon buckets of water at me. As long as I kept the bike at 55mph or higher, the windshield remained clear. The lip on the edge kept the rain from hitting me and my glasses. There’s always drops that are going to get on you, I wasn’t completely dry behind the shield, in fact I was soaked, but I was able to see and safely move down the road. I highly recommend your shields to other riders, and you guys keep up the good work.
Received and installed the windshield. It was perfect and “fit like a glove”. Thank you for being one of the very few businesses that fully stand behind their product and place a priority on customer satisfaction. I like how ‘invisible’ this windshield is compared to the stock offerings by Indian/Polaris. Road visibility is vastly improved.
Yesterday I tried the new windshield and I’m so so happy: it is great, it is wonderful it is absolutely perfect in all speed!!! Thank you so much John. Take care and best regards from a happy Achim from Bavaria!!
I want to thank you for the windshield – man, this thing is incredible. Very nicely, done. It changes the feel of the bike, almost a completely different motorcycle. I installed it last night and went for a quick 30-mile ride and I’m impressed. It completely changed my perspective on my bike, in fact. I’ve been on-again/off-again trying to sell it. I’ll keep it, now. It’s not only functional, but it’s really a beautiful accent to the bike.
